What digital platforms are students currently using to develop their professional network?
Based on the number of mobile app downloads and the amount of social media platforms used by me and people I know, the social media platforms that I think could be mainstream include Twitter, Discord and Zoom. Discord and Zoom mainly offer features such as remote video and voice communication, but the community features offered by these two programs are not as strong as Twitter. I think the community-sharing platform provided by Twitter is the main reason to attract users to visit.
What could the student consider in expanding their professional learning network?
I think the first thing to do is to define your own learning goals and plans, and then find the appropriate organizations and teams and join them. The purpose of doing so is to increase efficiency because people with the same goals will provide constructive advice and guidance.
Thread Discussion: How does data privacy and security limit and/or promote a PLN?
I think the current social media is being enhanced in terms of privacy protection for users, and the fact that users can set their own privacy settings provided by the platforms has had a positive effect on PLN. However, users may not be aware of the backend operation mode of social media because the privacy settings are between users, which does not guarantee that the backend will not disclose any content that involves personal privacy, so I think that people do not have privacy on social media, and some of the users may be affected by this aspect which may lead to the abandonment of the development of PLN.
In your network how can you create a digital identity/ reputation?
In order to establish a good digital identity the first thing to do is to create a sincere and effective profile to present to other visitors. Secondly, the posts published in a personal PLN should be authentic and current over time, and the content should reflect professional values as much as possible. On the other hand, it is important to accept constructive criticism and ignore comments or abuse that have no meaning or value; it is a waste of time to engage in discussions with those who post such comments.
